Sharing Your Thoughts With Speaker Buckley

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

Nevada farmers and ranchers need to head to their computer keyboards, fax machines or telephones to get their ideas into the mix.  If you aren’t engaged in the process of communicating this thinking with your legislative representative – don’t expect them to figure it out by themselves.  What’s more, they are certainly hearing an ear-full from others who might be more interested in extracting funds from your pocket than finding ways to make Nevada government operate within its means.

We were alerted to Assemblywoman Barbara Buckley’s website having lots of good ideas on how they should be dealing with Nevada’s budget situation and lack of tax resources.

When we visited the Speaker’s website we found it had lots of ideas from a number of people about how Nevada lawmakers should be dealing with the budget situation.  We didn’t see very many suggestions coming from those who will be getting to do the paying.  This “silence” needs to be changed with input coming from those of us who may not be as supportive of tax increases as those who appear to be dominating the conversation now.

In addition to submitting your input with ideas (and we want to stress the importance of that input being sincere, straightforward and respectful) you need to also get others involved in submitting their recommendations.  Filling up the web-site e-mail box of Speaker Buckley, who can also be reached by direct e-mail at bbuckley@asm.state.nv.us , with solid alternatives is important.

If she doesn’t hear from you, remember who’s fault that probably would be.
