An Important Tool Paying Big Dividends For Engaged Agricultural Producers

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

A recent opinion piece by an American Farm Bureau Federation writer highlighted the increased presence of agricultural producers on the phenomenon of social networking.  Shortly after that piece was presented, the H1N1 flu hit the news cycle with a vengeance unlike we’ve seen for some time.

As a member of the Facebook community and having lots of “friends” who are doing outstanding jobs of being proactive agricultural representatives, I’ve gotten to see the response that these agricultural advocates have made public, setting the record straight as this blog, provided by "Advocates For Agriculture" have gotten out.

In a situation, which has required a factual and timely distribution of reliable and understandable communications, agricultural producers and their supporters have effectively used the tools available to make a difference in sharing needed information to improve consumers’ understanding.

Congratulations to those who have been part of this effort.
