If Information And Better Understanding Matters…
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
Thanks to our friends from Advocates For Agriculture and their efforts to spread the word about the positive benefits of production agriculture we’re seeing more and more good information out there on why anti-agriculture causes (like the Humane Society of the United States) make no sense at all for a better world order.
The blog posts that they highlighted puts into perspective the logic and sound thinking of very important “thinkers” like Luther Tweeten of Ohio State University on what’s wrong with the destructive, anti-livestock campaign of initiatives like we saw in California this last election cycle for Question 2 and what’s expected for Ohio in the coming cycle.
If “education” and “improved understanding” matter it would seem that such solid information would be very good things to assist in pushing back those who promote to their agenda to public that just doesn’t seem to relate to the concept of where their food comes from. The big question is whether the public really can be influenced through just a better sense of “getting it”?
The answer is probably not as certain as we might wish it to be. Which is why using social networking tools and other outreach methods to build relationships is every bit as important as obtaining better facts and figures to persuade unknowing citizens to see the light.
We greatly appreciate the efforts of the growing number of pro-agricultural champions who are working to deliver, through their available channels, this kind of information. Hopefully, the constant flow of such information will make voters come to a point of thinking with their heads as opposed to being compelled to act to emotional stimulus.
Not only would this greatly benefit us by improved results at the ballot box, but also would assist in cutting off the financial gain for HSUS bank accounts. In the final analysis, the campaigns HSUS engage in is as much to persuade blind financial support as it is to realize destruction of animal agriculture enterprises. The leaders of environmental zealots and animal welfare fanatics conduct their business of conflict for profit motivations every bit as much as they do for the “noble” cause they hope to accomplish.

Another Good One Doug!
Right on the money!!!
HSUS isn't just about cats and dog extermination anymore. They want to end ALL Animal 'Ownership' and dictate how we interact with animals according to their dictates.
Don't be surprised next legislative session they go after Agriculture. You are in their gun sites! Once cats/dogs are exterminated, you will be next.
And you Agriculture groups/ranchers/businesses better be on the offensive...and this means all those businesses that support Agriculture....feed suppliers, transport, food preparation, etc. it will effect all of you on down the supply chain. Massive economic impact!
Do you really want to sit back and let this catastrophic event happen to your livelihood????
They will put you out of business like they have with dog and cat breeders!
Wake Up AGRICULTURE!!! This tsunami is coming your way next time.
Doug was there with me in the Nevada Legislature in 2009. He saw what the future portends!
Join us, and get your NRA friends, hunt clubs, cattlemens' associations, horses, sheep, etc. in the offensive we've got to do for next go round of legislature.
And Legislators who are in AG need to wake up and smell the coffee!
