Farmers And Ranchers Speaking For Themselves

As a farm boy I often heard the mention of how somebody needed to be telling the farmers’ story. Even way back then there was the concern that production agriculture was not as clearly understood nor as fully appreciated as it needed to be.
The advance of society (or at least the perceived gains) have been made possible through the freedom to pursue whatever opportunities struck people’s fancy without having to spend a lot of time worrying about where the next meal would come from. Fully stocked grocery shelves and a variety of food products all are taken to be so common that we don’t even notice the plenty.
All the free time and affluence has provided more than ample chance for those who prefer second-guessing and generating their causes on the misrepresentation of what others do. A number of these agents of conflict get paid quite well in taking advantage of bashing things that a majority of people don’t spend a lot of time knowing about.
In defense of the their business enterprises and responsible involvement in food production, more and more agricultural advocates are coming from the ranks of farmers and ranchers, speaking up for themselves and setting the record straight for those who care to be influenced by the truth.
Chris Chinn is one of these talented spokespersons, as evidenced in her blog work here. Congratulations to this young farm wife for her continuing efforts and for leading the way to encourage other, fellow producers to join the cause in championing a better informed public.
