Coming Face To Face With Those Who Grow Our Food
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
The expansion of the number of spokespersons, engaging in the critical work of speaking up – and speaking out for farmers and ranchers is extremely encouraging. As Cyndie Sirekis of the American Farm Bureau Federation notes here, those doing the talking are more and more agricultural producers themselves.
Some take advantage of the modern technology of world-wide communications and have come to the forefront as advocates for their family’s way-of-life. As we can see from this example, the arena of thought is filled with lots of strong opinions, exchanging ideas to provide a balance for information that consumers need to have as they figure out their own perspectives.
We also see a growing group of spokespersons who are turning their passion for American agriculture into business ventures that fit with their farming and ranching pursuits.
Efforts like this “You Tube” Presentation give non-farmer/ranchers the chance to hear and see first-hand the commitments that agricultural producers make to do what they do.
Thank you to all who are involved in the on-going effort to bring about a better understanding of where our food comes from and the people who make it possible.
