U.S. Senate Fully Under Control

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

Even though U.S. Senator Harry Reid has been the majority leader of the U.S. Senate for the past several years, something that too many people remember when it comes time to blame somebody for what’s not going right with the country, he now has the magic 60 number he needs to avoid having to deal with the minority party at all.  With all the arrangements finally locked down, my native state of Minnesota is sending a second U.S. Senator to Washington, D.C. to help Senator Reid keep filibusters from happening on any legislation he wants to “ram and jam”…

As a novice in trying to understand how the process of political elections operate, but someone who would hope other novices turn out in great numbers to make a different outcome occur in 2010 – Chris Cillizza’s insights into how Minnesota’s newest U.S. Senator accomplished his goal of unseating the incumbent are worth reading.  It especially hits home on how important grassroots organizations are in making a difference in building support for a candidate.  It also demonstrates that voting and the results from casting ballots has more to it then what you might have learned in civics class.

Nevada’s grassroots need to continue to come together in networking and building the framework of the organization which can change the situation in Washington, D.C. and also Carson City.  Those who are leading us in the wrong direction need to be replaced and the direction fixed.
