Using July 4th As A Platform To Make A Difference

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

Tomorrow is July 4th, Independence Day for the United States of America.  While it may be a day off for most of us, it is not a day we should take off from preparing for the 2010 election and bringing about the kind of “change” that has nothing to do with growing a bigger and more intrusive government.

Around the state of Nevada a number of Independence Day Tea Parties will be held to provide further organizational support for the effort of taking back Nevada.  You can also visit the “Action Is Brewing” Web site for the coordinating group that is working to keep these rallies going.
  • July 3rd – 10 a.m.  Las Vegas will be holding their Tea Party celebration at the Desert Breeze Park, 8275 Spring Mountain Rd.
  • July 4th – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reno will be holding their Tea Party celebration at the Sierra Marketplace Center, South East corner of Moana and S. Virginia (North of the Atlantis Casino)
  • July 4 – 10 a.m. to noon Winnemucca will be holding their Tea Party rally at the steps of the Humboldt County Court House on Bridge St.
  • July 4 – Noon  Fallon will hold their Tea Party at the Fallon Millennium Park
  • July 4th – Noon to 2 p.m. Mesquite will hold their Tea Party at the City Hall at 11 West Mesquite Blvd.
While some who will be attending these functions, in Nevada and around the country, might be going to be angry – it might be a better idea to take in the events for the purpose of networking with others who share your passion for replacing the Big Brother advocates who now serve the bureaucrats and other supporters of big government tyranny.  Anger can be a fine motivation, but at some point in time accomplishing what needs to be done requires hard work and resolve to build a proactive, positive campaign.

There is no doubt that we need fundamental reform and whole-scale replacement of those “representatives” who have gotten us to where we are, burdened by more government controls and required to pick up the tab for their inability to be responsible with spending the resources of “We the People”.

Hope you have a great and safe 4th of July weekend, perhaps we’ll bump into one another at a Tea Party!
