When “Rights” Are Given By Government
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
More often we hear that health care is a “Right” and that’s why Congress should be involved in drafting and then passing a nationalized health care program. If it is a “Right” that we should all have health care coverage, provided through the resources of our benevolent government…the question asked here is an important consideration we should all ponder. Who will say “No”? And, more importantly, what “right” do they have to make that decision?
A government big enough to do all we ask – is and will be a government big enough to decide all kinds of things…even deciding who will receive and who will not get health care services or treatment.
Instead of asking the Obama folks about who they think will be saying “No” -- our attention needs to be directed at our elected representatives in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House. They should be the ones giving us the answer, before they vote; “Who will say No?” Perhaps in coming up with an answer they might even consider reading the legislation they will be voting on…a whole new approach given the way they’ve been governing so far this year.
