Food Prices A Concern Lots Of Places, But Here

While it’s easy to get caught up in all of the things that aren’t going as well as we’d like, you can’t completely appreciate how fortunate you are until you pick up news like this regarding how people elsewhere have some really big troubles to deal with.
Although the news account, linked above, indicates that those tracking food prices elsewhere are finding steady rates of increase – our own experiences and the work that the American Farm Bureau Federation folks are doing to keep an eye on what’s happening here, shows completely the opposite.
We indeed have much to be thankful for and need to recognize the things that make our bounty possible. Yes, we have outstanding natural resources and tremendous technology, but we also have an infrastructure of food and fiber production, built on the foundation of individuals pursing opportunities.
This system has evolved in an environment that can’t be centrally planned or socially-engineered to be as successful as it has become – we do think though that with enough central planning and social engineering…you could destroy it.
