Federal Government Land Grabs Not Just A Western Thing
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
Having spent the last 21 years in the West, dealing with the consequences of U.S. Senators and Congress persons working in conjunction with preservationist, who wish to lock people out of access and use of lands – I’ve become fairly accustomed to this being standard operating procedures. From a recent post from our friends in North Dakota it seems that they also have to deal with backroom land arrangements with their elected leaders working to sell them out too.
Perhaps one of the bigger problems of this North Dakota issue is that the land the “lock it up” crowd is seeking to grab is private property.
The protection that is afforded private property rights has now come down to needing to complete an opt-out form telling the government and those who wish to take away your property rights that you’d like to not be part of their scheme.
With the way things are going and the intentions of those who control things in Washington, D.C. right now – we might want to expand on the “opt-out” idea and see if we can get a whole bunch of things included on the list of what we can “opt-out” of.
