Federal Agency Heads Continue Their Sales Job For Cap & Tax Scheme
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
In their efforts to sell the agricultural sector the wonderful benefits of Uncle Sam forcing energy prices to increase to save us from the theory of man-caused climate change, another Obama Administration star has been sent on the road to promote agricultural producers buying in. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Lisa Jackson is following up with the company line that Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has been shoveling wherever he goes on how great it will be for farmers if they just drink the Kool Aid and accept the inevitable of Big Government taking more charge.
The push actually is important for those who want to force the Climate Change, Cap & Tax legislation through the U.S. Senate and down upon the American people. Every Senator has agriculture as part of their constituency (even though those from Nevada aren’t particularly inclined to be supportive) and in some states those voters are not ones you want to have turn against you. The legislative process and dynamics are also different in the U.S. Senate and as things are stacking up there is a very good chance that the vote wouldn’t be in line with what the Obama Administration and the leaders of the Climate Change Scheme would like to be the outcome.
It is also predictable that the divide and conquer strategy would involve working with those like the corn growers and other similar commodity interest who think that they can cut a deal that provides them advantages. The same promises resulted in getting just enough votes in the U.S. House (which of course now are on the table for possible reversal actions).
In spite of Senator Reid indicating his support for passage of the legislation to increase energy costs as a way of making non-carbon based energy more cost competitive, we still reject the arguments for the concept of further destroying our economy over the excuse of what can’t come close to meeting the standards of a scientific truth. We urge you to join in the effort of sending more and more letters, e-mails and faxes, letting our elected leaders know that they should not vote for this abomination. For those who have friends or relatives in other states, urge them to also turn up the heat on their U.S. Senators, also pressing for an all out rejection of the Climate Change Cap & Tax bill.
