Big Brother’s Plans For Putting Everything Under Federal Control Continues To Progress
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
These are busy days in Washington, D.C., hearings, hearings everywhere and not an inkling of any indication for the process slowing down before lawmakers have to come home for summer vacation. Perhaps if they don’t follow the President’s mandates and pass his agenda for changing everything from a free-enterprise system to a socialized, government dominated and controlled system – he won’t let them come home. Perhaps if they do follow this mandate the people back home will only be interested in bringing them “home” for good.
In the ‘take-your-pick’ of imagined, politically-motivated crisis that our elected representatives are supposedly “fixing” for us, there is also the business-as-usual effort of expanding the reach of federal agencies into all sorts of details where they don’t belong.
On July 22nd another committee hearing was held to deal with the work of over-ruling the U.S. Supreme Court and their decision that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other government “brown-shirts” didn’t have authority over every drop of water in the country. Congress is working to “fix” this undesired outcome from the Court and change the Clean Water Act to give these bureaucratic thugs their regulatory clubs back.
A Farm Bureau representative, Charlie Kruse, President of the Missouri Farm Bureau Federation gave the committee an assessment of what their advancement of the legislation would mean for farmers and ranchers.
If you haven’t sent your U.S. Senators or Congressional representative a letter, e-mail or fax, expressing how wrong this further expansion of federal regulatory over-reach is – please don’t delay in providing that input as quickly as possible.
