A Link Of Reflection And Insights
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
Several weeks ago an often referred to column by Fouad Ajami made the rounds of the conservative talk radio show circuit with a number of the hosts for their respective programs referring to this piece. In my mind, as I listened to the assessment offered in the column, it seemed to me that Ajami had very accurately gathered a workable overview of where we as citizens were in that mid-August recess mindset.
It seems that as we continue in our forward rush we get caught up in the tidal waves of minute-by-minute media accounts not always able to pause and consider the meaning or the implications of ideas being presented – actions being pursued. From this perspective, the Ajami drew my attention by its well-stated evaluation of what we were in the middle of.
While listening to the radio talk show hosts, I thought it would be appropriate to have had at that time an actual hardcopy of the column they were presenting. Having stumbled across the link while reading this Washington Post column by Charles Krauthammer, I made the decision to offer those who might have missed it, the chance to see and read it.
In the long-run, whether from the standpoint of agreement or the vantage point of opposition we must each assess the policies and programs of the Obama Administration with less of hero-worship or attribution of evil. The yardstick of consideration should measure the relationship of proposals in the context of appropriate boundaries of individual responsibilities and government authority.
