More Government A Key To Building A Stronger Manufacturing Sector?

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

For those who believe in a capitalistic, free enterprise economic system the recent announcement of President Obama, adding still another czar to the small army of bureaucrats of the same ilk, there is some confusion on what this has to do with enhancing America’s manufacturing system.  This article, makes it seem that the only thing standing in the way of the United States having a stronger, more viable manufacturing sector is having a policy coordinator, accountable to only the President, on the job doing something to recommend more or different policies.

It is highly unlikely that the policies from Mr. Bloom will be oriented to reducing the burden of government’s boot on the head of the private sector.  Instead, given the past track record, the emphasis will probably come in the form of government programs and projects (spending even larger amounts of taxpayer dollars) on selected manufacturing firms, which meet criteria deemed to be model examples of what the central-planning folks deem to warrant their publicity propaganda.
