Cheerleaders For More Taxes Attempt To Shape Debate

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

There are a couple of newspapers in Nevada that have never met a tax increase that they didn’t support.  This editorial, while probably on track with the headline about it being too early to consider a special session, got seriously off track once the subject turned to tax increases.  What does it tell you when a Billion dollar tax hike is called “relatively small”?  Just like the joke going around regarding the leaders of Congress and President Obama’s attitudes about spending money we don’t have – “Please nobody tell them what comes after a Gazillion…”

There’s also the troubling frame of mind which suggest that no matter how much the private sector is having to do without because of the economic hardships – there ought not be any kind of short-changing for bureaucrats and government spending – the only real problem is that we don’t have enough ways to dig deeper into the pockets of those who should be paying more…

As we move forward, deeper into the campaigns for who will represent us after the 2010 election, we need to continue to highlight these examples of what big government advocates believe our future should be.  When given the opportunity to reverse this agenda, we need to send a strong message through our votes that we reject this approach.

    Great catch Doug.

Amazing that they can brush off the largest tax increase in Nevada's history as relatively small.

I'd hate to find out what they consider "relatively" average.
