In spite of the rhetoric of how much big government advocates want to help people,
the real purpose behind their current legislative efforts is acquiring more control
over our daily lives. As my friend Stewart Truelsen writes in his contribution here,
"The assessment goes beyond the carbon footprint to determine the full-range
of social and environmental consequences in the things we buy – including food
and other agricultural products.”
Whether in the form of an all-encompassing health bill which forces us to have
coverage either in a form that mandates private sector companies to cover all
comers – or a government paid program which offers payments for all the
health care they will deem you should receive…or a government controlled
program to tax our energy bills to high enough levels for alternative fuels
to become more competitive…it’s all about pushing our country and the
citizens who live here into the corners they as government officials want us
to be. There we will hopefully behave ourselves, turn over what’s left of our
property, contribute as they see necessary for their support and the socially
engineered Utopia they want to rule in will be complete.
Again, there needs to be consequences for this agenda of control and it will be
up to us to demonstrate our unwillingness to go
