Should People Matter?
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
For the sake of saving us from ourselves, should we matter? Based on this opinion piece by Bjorn Lomborg, Director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, perhaps the zealots working to push our international economies over the cliff in order to protect us from the ravages of carbon dioxide might want to consider the consequences of their single-minded pursuit.
Then again, people are most often the problem in the minds of the zealots who are behind such schemes as climate change. Their agenda is really directed at using government forces to inflict as much expense, inconvenience, burden and damage as possible on people – doing so under the guise of the actions being necessary for the people’s own good.
It would be an outstanding move for those who care about people to stand up and say that the efforts like we are seeing with climate change are unacceptable contemplations for world governments to implement. Instead of falling for the hoax and seeking to destroy economies to harm people, the appropriate actions to be carried out will be in favor of improving our human condition through expanding opportunities for progress. Instead of seeking to find ways for governments to oppress their citizens through meaningless regulation, the objective will be to find ways of enhancing freedom for individuals to pursue advancement and gain.
