Government Math An Interesting Concept
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
The headline caught my eye that a U.S. Senator was saying that the Senate Climate Bill was going to reduce energy prices. Knowing that the purpose of the bill is to drive energy costs higher through tax increases, I was intrigued of who was coming up with the idea that the costs for energy were going to go down.
The article, shed some light and provided great insight on how they have it figured out. One of the bill’s sponsors, Senator Barbara Boxer is planning to use the energy offsets and is projecting that for 70 percent of the folks, Uncle Sam will help take care of the short-term run-up of energy costs. Not mentioned is that the 30 percent not covered by the scheme the
Democrats are trying to sell are actually the ones who will be footing the bill, but then those are the “haves” who the Democrats try to convince everyone as the rightful targets.
The way this math works is that Government will artificially drive energy costs up in order to satisfy the interests who believe that mankind is heating up the planet by the use of carbon-based energy and just living the way we live. Through the income that Government gets for this ruse, they will turn around and give some type of government assistance for a block of people who will otherwise be hurt because they can’t afford the energy that government caused to be too costly. Somehow we’re supposed to believe that’s a solution?
In the end, the real solution will be un-electing those who are currently sitting in the chairs of being our representatives, thinking that this is something they ought to be even considering. Perhaps with enough of a change in the legislative branch, the shift away from government “being so helpful” will evolve into government stopping from being so much of the problem.
