Please Tax Us To Less
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
The advocates for government actions to require us all to live our life in the manner which they deem appropriate take very little time off. Their cause of social engineered outcomes and Big Brother mandated results (for our own good – because they’ve figured it all out) knows no boundaries.
In the spirit of forcing us to use less gasoline, this approach should promote higher taxes, according to this account in the Las Vegas Sun. Based on the current realities, government actions need (and do)
Although there is no need to needless waste of energy resources or money, perhaps the better approach to finding the appropriate use of energy might come in the form of market forces as opposed to government dictates… It doesn’t fit within the mindset of the social engineering that think-tank experts or current government officials seem willing to accept, but once-upon-a-time that capitalistic, private enterprise system built the United States into a nation that was a country people where people celebrated liberty and economic well-being.
Then again, when you are able to reach as high as you can reach and accomplish whatever individual achievements that you are willing to work for – you don’t need big government and social engineers to take care of your every need. All we have to trade away for the security we’re promised by big government providers is the freedoms of choice and opportunity…

In the spirit of forcing us to use less gasoline, this approach should promote higher taxes, according to this account in the Las Vegas Sun. Based on the current realities, government actions need (and do)
- limit the ability to look for energy sources,
- restrict extraction of known energy sources,
- further hinder the processing of the energy into useable forms,
- seek ways to further drive up cost through the potential institution of carbon-based tax schemes…
- and now we have “experts” telling us that it would also be great if we could have higher fuel taxes to further cause us to use less.
