Big Brother Will Provide – Or At Least That’s What We’re Supposed To Believe
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
Through the miracle of satellite radio I was recently able to listen in on a leftist town hall meeting, which featured a great deal of zeal on the importance of our federal government taking over the well-being of all of us through the health care reform efforts working their way through Congress. The best part of having access to multiple media outlets is to hear the zest expressed by those who sincerely, without any hesitation, are convinced that unless and until the federal government takes care of us – we’re are plum in a world of hurt. Being exposed to this emotional fervor goes a long way in better understanding how the champions of Big Brother government are able to successfully pander to those who can’t seem to give up more of everybody’s freedom for their imagined safety.
Not all the specific details got mentioned in the promotion of socialized health care and the Utopia we will be receiving through the Party’s grand plan. The magnitude of this type of information wasn’t part of the open-mike testimonials. They also didn’t get into the specifics of the less than open legislative process that we read about here. The concerns they fretted about was whether a Senator might slow down the train run-away or if somebody would poison the potion by leaving out important “must pay for” benefits such as abortion or other leftist agenda items.
Turning the radio dial a couple of notches farther certainly provided more to ponder, trying to figure out how we’re going to survive all the help Big Brother is going to give us.
