The Shadow Government Of The United States
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
While reading the morning Washington Post on-line it struck me as interesting that an article about the shadow government of the Taliban, operating in Afghanistan was followed by the announcement of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that they were going to regulate the emission of green house gases. The lead observation of the story tells us all we need to understand of EPA’s quest to control and regulate…
The activity of EPA grabbing for the regulatory stick has been a long time in process, starting with a Supreme Court Case that focused on the emissions coming from the tailpipes of motor vehicles. From this opening the expansion has been underway (in the spirit of EPA’s long-held traditions).
As a recipient of the agency’s news releases, I was able to share in the gleefulness of the regulatory joy –
In observing that the timing on the eve of the Climate Change get-together in Denmark, American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman noted that along with the possible impact the EPA’s regulatory process will have on agriculture – the decision “ …this move could have more to do with political science than climate science.”
The EPA news release was more specific regarding the basis for regulation…
The quack “science” of majority rule – and computer modeling (which might not allow for all the information to be entered) as opposed to the old system where facts established themselves is now the basis for government action…taken by the Shadow government of unelected bureaucrats.

“The Obama administration moved closer Monday to issuing regulations on greenhouse gases, a step that would enable it to limit emissions across the economy even if Congress does not pass climate legislation.”

“These long-overdue findings cement 2009’s place in history as the year when the United States Government began addressing the challenge of greenhouse-gas pollution and seizing the opportunity of clean-energy reform,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. “Business leaders, security experts, government officials, concerned citizens and the United States Supreme Court have called for enduring, pragmatic solutions to reduce the greenhouse gas pollution that is causing climate change. This continues our work towards clean energy reform that will cut GHGs and reduce the dependence on foreign oil that threatens our national security and our economy.”

“Scientific consensus shows that as a result of human activities, GHG concentrations in the atmosphere are at record high levels and data shows that the Earth has been warming over the past 100 years, with the steepest increase in warming in recent decades. The evidence of human-induced climate change goes beyond observed increases in average surface temperatures; it includes melting ice in the Arctic, melting glaciers around the world, increasing ocean temperatures, rising sea levels, acidification of the oceans due to excess carbon dioxide, changing precipitation patterns, and changing patterns of ecosystems and wildlife.”
