We Want To Be Your Friend – Here’s A Billion
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
On top of the other things the Obama Administration will probably end up doing to our country for the sake of advancing the cause of our economic destruction in the name of Climate Change – our Secretary of Agriculture has given a Billion dollars away for rain forests somewhere. The thing that’s sort of interesting is that the Secretary of Agriculture has access to giving a Billion dollars away…didn’t that used to be something that elected representatives needed to decide on? If they did, it must have been in one of the pork-barrel inserts that hasn’t gotten much attention…”here’s a Billion for rain-forest somewhere…”
On the other hand, the way the federal government is spending money these days a Billion might have been in the Dept. of Ag’s petty cash drawer for Secretary of Agriculture’s Christmas gifts for someplace in the world with rain forests?
I guess we’re supposed to be impressed with the symbolism (the Nature Conservancy folks sure are), representing just how serious our country is in convincing other nations of the world that our federal government will go above and beyond to burden the U.S. taxpayers with extra expense and coming soon – serious punishment – for being the way we are while trying to provide a living for our families. When the current leadership is through with their efforts of socializing our economy and destroying the private sector, we may need to figure out how we can get a rain forest started in our area. It could be just the ticket for getting support…since they’re just handing out Billion dollar gifts anyway.
Then again I’m not sure what our Secretary of Agriculture is thinking about whether forests are the thing for our country or not – it must depend on whether the outcome of the economic modeling supports or undermines the particular policy outcome that he wants the answer to be. When he’s telling agricultural producers how good the benefits of cap and tax are going to be – we’ll be planting trees everywhere…when his economists do their analysis and it turns out to suggest higher food costs and less agricultural productivity – then the model needs to be tweaked (I mean updated).
There seems to be something about modeling and climate change that allows for just about anything to fly as fact. Creditability seems to be pretty easy to come by when you’re supporting Big Government solutions for the invention of global warming…you’re able to say anything and the public is going to swallow the tale, hook…line and sinker.
