Building The Future We Need In 2010

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

Instead of the focus being totally on the anger over elected representation that hasn’t paid attention to citizen input.  Instead of motivation based on the betrayal of un-kept promises where tax increases were selected over reigning in government growth.  The foundation for a successful November in 2010 must be established on proactive campaigns oriented to take our local communities, our state and our nation in a direction where private enterprise is recognized as the source of prosperity – not the obligated providers for government’s redistribution agenda.

Building the outcome we need to achieve in November of 2010 requires establishing voter networks and construction of campaigns which concentrate on sharing and implementing a vision of expanding employment and economic enhancement as priorities through private sector solutions.

Contrary to the current approach demonstrated by the majority party, controlling legislated outcomes at the state and national levels of governments – the emphasis for turning things around has to be redirected to the well-being of the private sector versus “revenue stabilization” and all the ramifications of bigger government.   The clear theme (established through words and deeds) of the 2009 Nevada Legislature was maintaining the growth of state government and increasing the tax burden to pick up the tab.  2009 in Washington, D.C., the dominant legislative agenda was driven to spend our way to limited, short-term (and only measurable through political spin-doctored definitions) accomplishments with record-level federal deficits and private initiative draining Big Brother shackles.

As we’ve already heard and can expect to be bombarded with further over the emerging campaign process – those in power will continue to deliver the false political promises regarding the benefits of accepting the progress and hope of greater equality.  Unspoken, but the only logical conclusion that such an outcome provides is more government intrusion to deliver the leveled results.  Emotional hyperbole will seek to stampede “feeling” voters to the polls in anticipation of gains to be made when those who have more are required to fork it over and stop being so greedy.  The needs of the middle class and down-trodden can only be met through the benevolence of government programs which bestow the rightful societal and economic justice that capitalism and free enterprise inappropriately provides to those who work to succeed.

These sugar-coated promises must be met with sound and principled arguments, reasoned into the understanding that the “equality” promise of socialism is really based on no-one having anything other than what government elites decide and provide.

Government’s role isn’t to determine equal outcomes – true justice comes in the form of providing equal opportunity – with the risk and rewards system provided by private enterprise.

2010 offers us the choice of what our future will be and the chance to make a difference in establishing the future we will receive.  Examine the results of what has been provided and is being offered through central-planning and command/control government systems.  Then accept the invitation to join those who understand the advantages and are committed to initiating a comprehensive and proactive course for the advancement accomplished through expanded private sector approaches and solutions.
