If You’re Only Going To Watch – The Frustration Isn’t Going To Be Any Less

By:  Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President

It was pretty easy to understand the frustration documented in this post over the initial meeting of the Nevada Vision Group not being available on the internet link where most of the Nevada Legislature’s meetings are shown.  As a member of the Nevada Vision Group it would be inappropriate to become defensive over the criticism.  The truth however is that our committee had no more involvement in deciding the availability of the internet feed than taxpayers are probably going to have in determining whether the pre-ordained outcome of a tax expansion effort will be launched on the basis of the Visions that are developed.

Future Vision Group meetings will be available on the internet, from what information I’ve been provided with.  It would also be a good idea to bookmark this location on the Nevada Legislature’s Website and make a point to visit on a regular basis.  Signing up for additional information to be sent to you at this location would also be something for you to do.  Communications with the Vision Group seem to require either in-person participation at the meeting sites or might be accomplished through the contact with the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau, using the e-mail address of research@lcb.state.nv.us

Direct participation and communications with the Nevada Vision Group will be one of the solutions to the process that is in play.  However, the overall outcome will be much more determined by the legislators who are identified on this website connection as they will be taking the proposals from the Vision Group and working with their consultant to turn the need into the means (“revenue stabilization” strategies).

It should also be remembered that the process is political with the ultimate authority of Nevada citizens exercised through the use of the ballot box.  Those wishing to achieve a less burdensome government need to elect legislators to represent them who are not of the belief that government should be expanded with more funding required to finance their excessive desires.
