Our Expectations Are In Need Of "Change"
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
Government cannot deliver a functioning, health economy…it can only screw one up. That simple fact seems to have gotten lost in spite of the constant evidence of its truth.
Last night’s 6 o’clock news included our Nevada U.S. Senator, majority leader of the U.S. Senate, addressing the media and describing the outcome in the Massachusetts election as stemming from the anger that voters had with the banks. Mounting the predictable populist platform to blame anything perceived as big (or moneyed) and ranting against the greed of Wall Street, we can anticipate from all the expert analysis that seems to be currently available, Democrats will get their groove back continuing to advance the false hope that they can make things better with more government. The finger pointing within the party ranks over the defeat in the special Senate election is quite telling and should be an insight we ought not lose sight of…these guys don’t accept responsibility or take accountability for their failures (remember it’s Bush’s fault). They are much better at pretending they deserve credit (example: the creation of the concept of “saved jobs”) than standing up to admit they aren’t getting the job done.
Having just finished David Horowitz’s book “The Politics of Bad Faith – The Radical Assault on America’s Future” it’s not a new thing for socialists and all of the leftist faith to not be able to recognize that their pursuit of a government delivered Utopia is not doable. His book spotlights the history of failure and human hardship caused by their efforts to deliver all under their control equal results through centrally-orchestrated rationing and forced totalitarian compliance. He also notes that the actual failure to produce results is constantly being ignored in the pursuit of the promise...paying no attention to the devastation caused because after all the purpose is noble in spite of not being possible.
Examine the core of the current health care payment scheme passed by the Senate. The television commercials which tell us to call our U.S. Senator to thank him for his valiant fight, proudly proclaim that health insurance companies will be required to keep you on, no longer denying coverage or preventing your business relationship with them on the basis of pre-existing conditions. For some reason the mention of you being forced to buy health insurance – whether you want to spend your money on that purchase…or not – isn’t mentioned. Neither are the impacts of the tax burdens laced throughout the proposal. Government can only do the wonderful things for you by forcing you to go along and charging extra taxes to make it all possible. If you think the legislation is a mountain of unread paper, wait until you see the regulations and government agency requirements that will go along with the package which so far hasn’t gotten past the backroom negotiating process.
When government is involved in the actions of determining how the wheels are going to turn, those with special preference (and the current political leaders seem to have a full stable of powerful cronies) are taken care of. We’re not even sure yet what other special Union deals or other arrangements will need to be worked out to give those who are needed to obtain their preferential treatment in the outcome.
The Solution:
Some have noted that it is unfair to be critical, if you don’t have an alternative to offer. In light of the truth that government cannot deliver a functioning, healthy economic condition, it would be my recommendation that they be required to stop trying. Those in government (at the state as well as national levels) who advance the concept of government spending us to prosperity should be replaced with representatives who understand the reality that limited government not only fits within the guides of the Constitution they are supposed to adhere to – but, also has demonstrated an very successful track record of working.
Putting our faith and reliance in a private sector unrestrained by government’s crushing tax burdens or needless bureaucratic micro-management for advancement of control and domination is the only course that will take us away from the abyss we now are required to deal with.
The current voter anger and frustration is fine as long as it also includes a rational response of rejecting those who seek to force us into their envisioned system of the government, by the government, for the government.

You mean the government is going to screw up the smoothly functioning private health insurance industry the man people can't afford? If you don't have health insurance, or a pre-existing condition, you're young, and you're dying from a preventable disease or injury, hasn't your future been decided by a death panel of corporate officers who really couldn't give a damn whether you liver or die as long as they get huge bonuses?
