Never Mind!

In the good old days of Saturday Night Live one of the classic characters of Gilda Radner was Emily Litella. During the spoofs of news programs, Emily Litella would be featured with a comment as a public service of the program where a viewer would be allowed to give her responsible editorial response on some hot topic of the day. The repeated situation would have Emily Litella not quite matching up with a reaction that fit the actual circumstances of the issue. My favorite was the rant that Litella gave on “The Eagle Rights Amendment” only to learn at the climax of her point that the actual issue was “The Equal Rights Amendment”… When confronted with her mistake, the correction to the mistake came with the famous line.
My last blog presented a link to a website with an account of how government has as low opinion and lack of trust of us (citizens) as we have of them. Having witnessed the very real life experiences of government officials portraying their disdain for taxpayers, the account was not completely out of the realm of possibility in my mind.
A reader made the point of sharing a comment to explain that the “Onion”, which carried the linked story is a humorous, satirical news website.
