Recognizing The Critical Role The 2010 Election Will Play In Our Future
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
The importance of translating ideas into meaningful action cannot be lost as we approach the determinations to be made at the ballot box in 2010. To this purpose voters need to cast their ballots against those who have instituted our current economic malaise of government command and control and who plan to further increase government’s reach. New representatives at the state and national level need to replace the champions of government expansion with those who support limited and constrained approaches.
In his most recent book, “To Save America” Newt Gingrich has launched a comprehensive campaign that we all should hope takes form and becomes a blue-print for newly elected state and national legislators to carry forward in constructing a revitalized operational system for our country’s future. In this recent thought piece , the former Speaker of the U.S. House has correctly identified the risk of continuing the ruinous route of uncontrolled government spending.
As I go through the audio version of “To Save America” one of the most significant concepts that has struck me involves the need for replacement – not reform of the various programs and initiatives that are leading our country in the wrong direction. Those who we elect in 2010 to take back the steering wheel of state need to be bold in conducting a replacement strategy of failed policy which has placed government at the center of what makes our nation operate.
Nevada Senators at the 2010 Special Legislative Session lectured business interests to show up and come to the table with tax revenue to fund a state government which legislators have deemed more deserving of private resources than the private citizens who earned the resources to be taxed away. Those who support the redistribution schemes are working relentlessly to vilify those who are targeted for contribution. If you have – your purpose is to give – so hand it over!
We need to remember this intent and make no mistakes in sending or re-electing representatives to office (state or nationally) who consider it appropriate for government to continue doing what we’re seeing now.
