As a follow up to the blog posted earlier on the egg recall situation, I received an email from Stephen Jannise, regarding a blog post he had written on the subject. I'd like to pass this link along to "The Distribution Blog " so you can get some more information and an overview that he has offered. Food safety is a critical issue with very complicated ramifications that need to be addressed in a sound and balanced fashion. Appropriate controls are necessary to safeguard not only those who consume the products produced by agriculture, but also the integrity of those who apply proper management activities to provide safe and nutritious products. Continued information gathering and reasoned public discussions are necessary in determining what gaps in an already extensive network can be strengthened, improving what can be improved without going overboard to the point where production is not possible.
We don't live and shouldn't expect a zero-risk life, but still need to be searching for doing what is possible to make what's good -- better.
