Back East They Are Finally Getting At Least One Point Of The Message
By: Doug Busselman, Executive Vice President
As someone who grew up in the Midwest and came to the Western portion of the county as an adult (at least chronologically speaking) I have been able to understand the frustration that many Westerners have had to deal with when it comes to getting those outside of the region to appreciate issues we face as being serious concerns. It is not uncommon to attend meetings now in other parts of the country and listen to the discussions of issues that have long been big-time problems in the West, but now that those East of the Mississippi have gotten some first-hand experience…by golly this is something to get up in arms about.
With this in mind, I found Stewart Truelsen’s piece on coyote problems in the East to be especially interesting. It serves as the perfect example that when somebody else is having trouble it is not as important as when that same trouble comes calling closer to home. Perhaps the more of a challenge this becomes for those in the East, the easier it will be to get meaningful solutions applied to the same issues being faced in the West…
There are several additional examples of “Western Issues” that I can think of which would be wonderful for our Eastern friends to have to deal with in their backyard.
